CASE NUMBER - I would like to continue using the same numbering system I've used for years. Should I just put it in CASE NAME or is there a built in numbering system.
CASE TYPE - Is there a way to add case types, say COLLISION INVESTIGATION or LE BACKGROUND?

Doug, the case numbering system in CaseWork is locked in. It will autogenerate a new case number. Once you save the case, the case number will then be saved.
Case types: You can adjust to your likings. From the home screen, left hand side select settings.
Once your at the setting screen, the select settings type and you will see Case Types
Once your there, you can add new case types as well as defines leads in advance that will auto populate your leads screen for you.
